Lives Through Alternate Options (SLAO):
Saving Lives Through Alternate Options (SLAO) is a 501
(C) 3 non profit non governmental organization that provides
humanitarian supportive service for victims of conflicts
and natural disasters. SLAO also provides capacity building
and technical assistance programs aimed at reducing health
disparities in minority and low income communities in the
US and Sub Saharan Africa.
Founded in 1995 by an immigrant couple to address the growing
needs of immigrant populations in the Southwestern USA,
the organization now provides services to other communities
including African Americans, Latinos and Caribbean’s.
Currently SLAO has programs in four countries in Sub Saharan
Africa dealing with humanitarian assistance, advocating
for gender equality; outreaching to improvised communities
to improve their quality of life through self-help programs
such as outreach and eduction on HIV/AIDS prevention, prevention
of domestic and intimate partner violence; working with
local communities to encourage greater school attendance
for children at risk, whilst creating space and time for
adults to participate in their children's education.

We feel very fortunate
to aid the most vulnerable population. This relief effort is only
achievable by forging alliances. We sincerely appreciate the support
given by the private sector, The Salvation Army, local non-profits
such as Saving Lives through Alternate Options (SLAO) and many individuals,
